American comedian Rich Hall meets himself in miniature.

In 2004 Kilkenny's International Comedy Festival, Murphy's Cat Laughs, commissioned Stephen to create an exhibition to mark its tenth birthday. Potty Humour involved 35 sculptures, video interviews with comedians, an audio background and large flashcards charting the evolution of the festival.

One popular feature was the 'living exhibit,' where comedians simply sat quietly (and not-so-quietly!) in a corner to be ogled by the public. Tommy Tiernan, Des Bishop, Ed Byrne, Dara O Briain, Jason Byrne, Deirdre O'Kane and Dom Irrera were among the comics who sat for the show. Potty Humour was a massive success, one of the big hits of the 2004 Cat Laughs, attracting more than 1,200 people over a three-day run.

Some comments from the visitors' book:

  • "Fuckin' brilliant - you're a genius!"
  • "Absolutely wonderful work!"
  • "Make it a permanent feature - ingenious, witty and meticulous"
  • "Golden memories, just in clay"
  • "Brilliant, absolutely brilliant"
